Is it OK to Ask and Answer Your Own Questions?

YES – I’m doing it right now!

  1. If you have a question that you already know the answer to.
  2. And you’d like to document it in public so others (including yourself) can find it later.
  3. Then it is OK to ask, and answer, your own question on ProvidencePowWow.com

To be clear, it is not merely OK to ask and answer your own question, it is explicitly encouraged.

I do it all the time – that’s why I started this site! For example, when I first moved to Providence I needed to have something notarized. I didn’t have a local bank yet and so i wasted a morning trying to locate someone who could do it in walking distance from my house. I documented my research by asking and answering my own question. Now, others can benefit from the time I spent thereby making Providence an easier place to live in, move to, and visit.

Overall, a huge win all around!
